On Tuesday, I place Jane's mother's name (and Jane's name) on the prayer roll of the Los Angeles temple. Today, Thursday, I get an excited phone call at work from "Jane."
She has, what I think, and my friend Jane thinks, good news. Jane's mother's long time boyfriend has had enough, and can't bare seeing what is happening to her. So he put her into his car and drove her to her mother's house (Jane's grandmother). Janes grandmother (and aunt) has the financial means to help her. Jane wished she could help her, but $250 a week isn't enough to take care of someone.
Jane tells me her grandmother is a tough cookie and was a strict mother. Jane has confidence this is the best thing for her mother and I agree. We are both hoping Jane's grandmother gets her mother declared incompetent. I seriously believe that will be easy. This is so they can help her whether she likes it or not. The key thing that needs to happen to Jane's mother is to get her cleaned up, hair cut off, and to see a doctor. She also needs to get off the drugs so she can finally think straight.
Jane was so happy that she was literally very excited talking to me on the phone. I was happy too. Her smile brightens up any room. I'm glad it's back.
Folks, prayer works.
